Job Details:
On-call, as needed to provide coverage when the regular health assistant is absent
Hours and location may vary depending on assignment
Qualifications:
Minimum of a high school diploma (prefer EMT/CNA/RN certification)
Current CPR/AED certification and standard first aid card required
Knowledge of student behavior and characteristics, and basic office methods and computer skills
Ability to keep accurate records and files
Professional telephone etiquette
Ability to provide CPR/AED or first aid to injured or ill students and staff
Ability to deal tactfully and compassionately with staff, students, and parents regarding health-related issues
Ability to follow laws, rules, and Humboldt County School District policies and procedures
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, and establish effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents
May require assisting students with toileting needs and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Responsibilities:
Provide health office coverage in the absence of the regular health assistant
Administer first aid and emergency care for students and staff
Document student visits, treatments, and communications with parents/guardians
Maintain confidentiality of student health records and information
Support the health needs of students as directed by the school nurse or administrator
Perform clerical duties related to health services as needed
Adapt to different school sites, routines, and needs as assignments change
Assist with other duties as assigned
