Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Nevada teaching license
• Expertise in at least one content area
• Excellence in classroom pedagogy
• Five or more years of classroom teaching experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with adult learners
• Experience designing and facilitating professional learning
• Experience mentoring and coaching educators

 

Salary:

Salary is equivalent to your current teaching experience and education according to the teacher salary scale for the designated fiscal agent, Elko County School District.

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING LEADER JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The NNRPDP provides high-quality professional learning opportunities to enhance student learning by recognizing and supporting research-based instruction and by facilitating instructional leadership within the context of the Nevada State Professional Development Standards. The position requires work in three broad categories: 1) Fulfilling legislated mandates (e.g., NVACS, NEPF, Parent Engagement) 2) Meeting district requests for services (e.g., NVACS, differentiation, student engagement), and 3) Supporting individual teachers (e.g., coaching, credit classes, modeling, instructional rounds).

 

In order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position, the Professional Learning Leader must:

 

• enter the position with a well-established area(s) of expertise and the scholarly understandings underpinning it,
• remain current in proven educational innovations and teaching methods,
• adopt a critical stance toward research and policy in education,
• be self-directed and self-organized,
• provide professional learning opportunities as requested across the region in face-to-face, interactive video, online, and blended mediums,
• maintain consistent and positive communication within the six counties served by NNRPDP: Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Pershing and White Pine,
• incorporate training that addresses the educational needs of students with disabilities or whose primary language is not English,
• develop critical self-awareness of implicit and explicit bias in instructional and professional practices, and professional and personal interactions with stakeholders and develop appropriate response strategies aligned with instructional and professional practices,
• preserve a growth mindset, and
• work with and through technology to collaborate with colleagues efficiently. Working as a NNRPDP Professional Learning Leader is rewarding and exciting. Good mental and physical stamina is needed to meet the demands of the travel, preparation, and presentation schedule of the work.
