Qualifications:
1. Must hold the proper certification and endorsements as required by the State Board of Education.
Qualifying License: Special Education K-12
Qualifying Endorsement: Generalist

Job Goal:
Candidates must have a commitment to life-long learning and a willingness to actively participate in professional development and enhancing individual skill sets.
Staff must be solution-focused and work effectively with colleagues; they must have the aptitude for gathering data and analyzing that data to improve their effectiveness as a teacher. All new hires must have a capacity and a commitment to using and fostering technology.
Must have an unwavering commitment to the success of all students, as well as a dedication to meeting the differentiated needs of student groups, including, but not limited to, special education, English Language Learners, and gifted students.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Strives to implement by instruction and action the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives, and in harmony with the above, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and to communicate these objectives to student.
2. Plans a program of study, that as much as possible, meets the individual needs and abilities of students.
3. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation as requested by the immediate supervisor.
4. Identifies those students with learning problems on a regular basis seeking the assistance of District specialists as required.
5. Assists the administration in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board of Trustees' policy, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
6. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records and inventories as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
7. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
8. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
9. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
10. Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
11. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
12. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
13. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
14.Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities if requested.
15. Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning.
16. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign in a supplemental job description involving the individual school program. |
