Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 10 years of successful teaching experience
  • Current Nevada License
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Nevada Academic Content Standards in both Mathematics and English Language Arts
  • Experience in research-based instructional practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Nevada Educator Performance Framework
  • Desire to continue career improvement
  • Previous instructional coaching/mentoring, or teacher leadership experience
  • Deep knowledge of and experience in:
    • Instructional strategies
    • Conditions of learning
    • Assessment driven instruction
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building an environment with a common instructional focus, promoting initiatives, and conveying expectations
  • Ability to design and deliver qualify professional development for administrators, teachers, and parents
  • Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team
  • Demonstrated interest and engagement in professional learning and reflection
  • Instructional Consultation and Teaming experience

General Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the intellectual and professional development of teachers with a focus on improving student achievement
  • Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators
  • Communicate and demonstrate research based instructional practices that result in increased student performance
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
  • Provide individualized, classroom based coaching with participants to support the in implementing instructional practices founded in the NEPF
  • Demonstrate a willingness to assume leadership positions
  • Provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers as needed
  • Provide support for analyzing student assessment data
  • Assist teachers with instructional decisions based on assessment data when requested
  • Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies
  • Assist teachers in creating materials that are in alignment with the curriculum
  • Provide teachers resources related to instruction and curriculum
  • Provide assistance in researching instructional and or curriculum issues
  • Manage time and schedule flexibility to maximize teacher schedules and learning
  • Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction and assessments
  • Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers
  • Possess an understanding of when to contact administrators regarding issues of safety/ethics
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Director of Educational Opportunity, Principal and the Assistant Superintendent
  • Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum, and assessment
  • Work directly with the district and schools to engage families as required by Title I.
  • Lead Learning Strategists including data collection timelines, dyslexia training and professional development/coaching for K-3 administrators and staff
  • Other duties as assigned
